    Meteor in Canada; Planets Converge

Meteor in Canada; Planets Converge This video was posted on Kim Komando’s site today. It’s of a meteor, smashing into the Earth’s atmosphere at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It happened November 20th, two weeks ago. It created an amazing glow. A police car camera actually caught this on tape! Cool! Watch and see. In other astronomy news, there’s an amazing converging of the moon, Jupiter, and Venus this week. The big show was last night. They are so beautiful, shining like glimmering diamond rings. This converging won’t happen again until 2052. I probably won’t be here for that, lol. Venus and Jupiter are going to come back into this position in 2011 and 2012, but without the moon. Amazing! You can read more about that here. [IMG [Slashdot]] [IMG [Digg]] [IMG [Reddit]] [IMG [del.icio.us]] [IMG [Facebook]] [IMG [Technorati]] [IMG [Google]] [IMG [StumbleUpon]]

I haven't posted about the Great Saskatchewan Meteorite...

...because I didn't see it, darn it. I still have vivid memories of seeing a fireball streak cross the skies over Texas when I was about seven. I would have loved to have seen this one. Oh, well. Looks like they've found some pieces of it, at least. I've never seen a total solar eclipse, either. There was a near-total one in southern Saskatchewan on February 26, 1979...and I missed it because I was away at university in Arkansas. (Stamps feet.) It's not fair!

Scientists say they hope to find remnants of a meteor that brilliantly lit up the sky before falling to earth in western Canada.
